- Begin by disconnecting the battery.
- Take off the plastic belt cover on the motor's left side.
- If available, use an impact gun to quickly loosen the nut on the motor shaft belt pulley. Alternatively, if using hand tools, it's advisable to have someone assist by sitting on the bike and holding the brakes, preventing the motor from spinning.
- Place the Sur Ron on a bike stand to lift the rear wheel for better access to the left side.
- Remove the rear wheel.
- Detach the rear cable guide.
- Lay a clean shop towel on the seat and place the rear brake assembly on it.
- Loosen the two motor adjustment bolts.
- Unfasten the nut and bolt linking the center suspension linkage to the swing arm.
- Take off the motor shaft pulley nut and the shaft key way.
- Loosen the swing arm pivot bolt and nut.
- Disconnect the jack shaft from the swing arm and set the swing arm aside.
- Remove the motor shaft pulley and the jack shaft.
- Take out both spacers from the jack shaft to keep them safe.
- Unscrew the six bolts to detach the large pulley from the jack shaft.
- Following the Warp 9 kit instructions, first install the spacer (if needed for chain alignment), then the large chain sprocket using the original bolts with blue thread locker, and torque them to 8 ft-lbs.
- Place the motor shaft pin on the shaft (greasing it may help it stay in place).
- Install the small motor shaft sprocket from the Warp 9 kit onto the shaft, and loosely tighten the shaft nut (final torque will be applied later).
- Reinsert both spacers into the jack shaft, and position the jack shaft between the swing arm, then reattach the swing arm to the bike (note: the spacers are interchangeable).
- It might be easier to install the chain while pushing the swing arm forward into the bike (this is best done before installing the pivot bolt to avoid difficulty in chain installation).
- Secure the swing arm pivot bolt and nut, and apply the correct torque (value to be determined).
- Reattach the center linkage bolt and nut.
- Reinstall the rear brake assembly and the wheel.
- Reattach the rear brake cable guide.
- Adjust the engine's position for proper chain tension using the cam on the bike's left side, then tighten both adjustment bolts.
- Remove the bike from the stand, and have someone help stabilize it by sitting on the seat and holding the brakes.
- Apply blue thread lock to the motor nut and tighten it by hand (avoid using an impact gun for this step).
- Reattach the motor cover.
- Note: Regular cleaning and lubrication of the chain with high-quality chain lube is recommended for maintenance.
